Meet The Team


Stuart Hutchison FCCA

Stuart specialises in the provision of business planning solutions, tax planning solutions, accounting, audit and back-office support services for the recruitment industry. The recruitment sector services draws on Stuart’s ten years of experience working with recruitment businesses, and he advises a broad range of owner-managed businesses from start-ups through to multi-million pound corporates.

His team work with many agencies up and down the country and their sector expertise means they understand the commercial challenges you face. The UHY Hacker Young network further supports their desire to continue to offer a personal service, with the benefit of global footprint with offices in over 90 countries.

Having built up numerous strategic alliances with industry specialists, including software providers, finance providers and business coaches, Stuart and his team offer clients a one-stop shop to help them free themselves from the daily administrative headaches and fulfil their potential. They are also APSCo members.

Outside of work, Stuart is an avid football fan and spends as much time as possible at John O’Gaunt Golf Course.


Marie Pegram ACA

Marie began her career at UHY Hacker Young in August 2008, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in September 2011. In the autumn of 2013, Marie was presented with an opportunity to work alongside Stuart Hutchison, Partner, on a fledgling project offering services to the Recruitment Industry. Most recently she was promoted to be a Partner of the firm at 31 years old.

In under three years, Marie and Stuart have developed a unique sector specific service offering and now act for over 70 recruitment businesses. This sector continues to be one of the fastest growing services at UHY Hacker Young.

Marie is rapidly gaining a reputation as a key advisor to the industry. Whether she is providing planning services to existing clients, meeting new clients, presenting to wider audiences or helping tailor forums through the firms APSCo membership, Marie is determined to enable clients to achieve their goals.

Her talent has also been recognised by her peers, having made the Accountancy Age “35 under 35” list in 2016, which represents the “”best and brightest accounting practice talent in the UK”. In her spare time Marie enjoys playing netball for her local club and is an avid Watford Football Club fan.


James Price FCA

James qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm in 2001, having read Economics at Lancaster University prior to joining. Following his elevation to Partner status at the start of 2009 James became one of the firm’s senior statutory auditors and also heads up the firm’s corporate finance function, both in respect of delivering transactional, advisory & valuation services to clients.

In his roles as both an auditor and corporate financier James has gained extensive experience of the Recruitment sector and has an in depth knowledge of issues such as raising finance and M&A. James has been awarded the CF designation by the ICAEW. Outside of work James swings a golf club with varying degrees of success and is a keen follower of Liverpool Football Club.


John Sheehan FCA

As tax partner John advises on many significant transactions and planning exercises covering business taxes, as well as helping clients deal with HMRC’s ever-changing regulatory requirements.

He has significant knowledge on the blurred line that falls between employment and self-employment and HMRC’s continuing attempts to pull more workers within the scope of employment taxes.


Robin Mead

Robin qualified as a Chartered Banker in 1985 and in 1987 joined an electronics company as financial director having decided that the commercial world provides a more challenging environment! Over the years he has held senior financial and management positions in manufacturing and distribution businesses.

Robin joined Payplus (our sister company which deals with payroll) in 2012 and has been instrumental in the sourcing and implementation of specialist software for the UHY Back Office timesheet solution.  In addition, as Managing Director, he has daily contact with recruitment companies who use Payplus for their outsourced payroll requirements. Outside work Robin is a keen cyclist, Letchworth Rugby club follower and is lovingly restoring a Lotus 7.
